A medical emergency

A deep navy cloak hides his features and the more ornate tunic the courtesan usually wears to greet his clients. Mal hunches his shoulders and slides through the crowds hoping to avoid notice. He keeps his head down until he reaches the home of the doctor and wraps smartly on the door. "Open up," he calls in a voice that expects to be listened to.

How much time did he have? He could not have a client bleeding out. Not this one. Not one who had come to him for help, to be treated privately.

A moment where Regis draws his memories to mind, going through the years. "A hundred and fifty years ago, or thereabout. It would happen more often in the rebel-rousing days of my youth, but relationships and even briefer affairs have been few and far between since I entered into - ah - sobriety, as it were."

“Then, I have even more reason to feel honoured that you would accept me as your companion,” Mal says softly before he kisses Regis neck.

Regis gives a sift, pleased hum at the show of affection. "No, Mal, it is I who is honored. Despite knowing what I am I haven't seen you shy away even once."

“I still do not see why I should,” Mal says softly. “I see the person you are and what you try to accomplish.” His eyes dance, “I don’t think I have a thing for vampires but I do have a thing for a man called Regis.”

A warm chuckle from the vampire, who steals a kiss before tucking Mal's head in under his chin. He wishes to show Mal something, but he doesn't want him to see his face when he does.

He holds up a hand, palm facing them. There are callouses from work, long fingers, and those pointed fingernail. Only, those fingernails grows to truly become claws, growing more and more until they are well over a foot long, sharp and hard, when Regis clacks them together just once they ring out almost like metal. Identical claw have also sprouted from the hand that lays on Mal's shoulder that keeps him cradled in close.

"As I said, it is I who is honored." There's a different rasp to Regis' voice, but in most ways it sounds just the same.

“Different,” Mal says. There is no fear in his voice, no change in his heart rate. He has accepted Regis for who he is and changes in appearance are going to make no difference to him.

Carefully he reaches out to touch them. “I presume these must be used in a fight? They are too long to be practical elsewhere.”

"They are, yes," he answers. "They are the main weapons of any higher vampire." He turns the hand over, showing a speckling of large freckles that mottles the back of it. The same run down his throat to disappear own the neckline of his tunic. And his face... He will still keep Mal's eyes off his face. It isn't that he doubts Mal's intentions or his heart, but knowing and imagining something is different than being put face to face with it.

Mal lifts his head to press kisses to the freckles and to each of the bale like tips. He’s flirting with danger, he can imagine the potential damage that could be done. And yet he knows he’s safe.

He lifts his head, turning with an idea to look up into Regis face and kiss his lips to give him the final reassurance that he is at home with this.

Regis' hand on Mal's shoulder restrains him for a moment. The claws retract back to just pointed fingernails, the freckles fade. "Not yet," Regis says when he turns his face - an ordinary, human face - down to Mal's. The rasp is gone from his voice. "Not today." He kisses him, lingering and sweet.

Acceptance. Mal joins in with the kiss without protest. Like Regis he has patience and will wait for the vampire to show him things in his own time.

As the kiss ends, Mal is a little breathless as he puts a hand to Regis; cheek. “When you are ready,” he says softly, “I promise I will not recoil from you.”

"I do not at all doubt your heart, Mal," Regis says, echoing his thought from earlier. "But I dare say most would find me to look more than monstrous. There might be times when I find it difficult to withhold physical changes to my form and I do not wish to startle you if it happens." This; talking about it, showing Mal that book earlier, showing him this now, it is Regis' way to let Mal get gradually used to the idea.

“But it will still be you,” Mal says softly. “And I will not forget that.” He fear the temperament of people not their looks. “I willl find my own beauty in that.”

Regis smiles softly and with a hand behind Mal's neck he bows their heads together, forehead resting against forehead. "Thank you, dear heart."

Mal’s eyes are full of warm affection. Dear heart, he likes that. He cannot think of a term of endearment that will equal it for Regis. It is something that he does think about on and off as they eventually move from their position and continue on with the day.

When day fades into night and Mal goes to bed, he draws Regis with him to curl up together again, clothed like the last time. It is brilliant that they can rest at ease together with no thoughts of continuing on with what they had earlier. Though Mal does have thoughts of it once or twice.

In the night, he must have been dreaming about it, for he does wake while Regis is dozing with his hand resting low on Regis’ chest. He considers it for a moment, and then lets his hand drift lower, lightly stroking Regis through the material.

Regis has indeed only been dozing lightly but still enjoying the rest where he lays with Mal's head pillowed on his shoulder. Then Mal starts to stir, though just how awake he is Regis doesn't know, if the hand wandering down his body is a conscious move or not. Till, relaxed and warm he only turns his head to bury his nose in Mal's hair, drawing in a deep breath of the scent of him, then letting it out in a content sigh.

Mal is most definitely awake. The contented sigh spurs him on to push the soft material away and palm at his cock. He doesn't say anything and simply begins open mouth kiss up Regis' neck.

The next sounds to come from the resting vampire is a small noise of pleasure. He remains soft yet, but he's enjoying the touches nevertheless. And, Mal's advances does answer that little question for Regis. "So then I am assuming that you are in fact awake?"

"No we are both asleep and this is merely a dream," Mal murmurs teasingly before he nips at the skin. "Relax and enjoy."

"Then what a lovely dream it is," he says with another soft sigh. Slowly he stirs under Mal's touch, swelling and hardening in his hand.

Regis' top gets pushed out of the way. Mal's clever fingers move and identify spots that create soft noises from Regis. His other hand slowly builds the pleasure, mixing slow and relaxing with firm strokes. He's intent on his job, stretched out with a leg thrown over Regis'.

Mal's increased ministrations coaxes small groans from Regis where he lays stretched out at Mal's mercy, fully content. Well, almost. His hand comes to gently halt Mal's stroking fo him, though he smiles at him. "Give me just a moment." His eyes gleam, shining likes a cat's in the dark. "Humor me."

In the next moment there is only that thick, graphite-gray smoke in his place. But, in an outright humorous way, a tunic and a pair of trousers are flung from it to land wherever they may, having barely hit the floor before Regis again resumes his shape, now without so much as a thread to hinder Mal's exploration. "I thought that you might perhaps enjoy unhindered access."

It produces a laugh that is a lot more natural than the silence that has marked Mal's movements so far. "Well that does speed things up," he teases.


His kisses move lower. "I wonder," he muses, "How patient you can be, if you are brought close and it is slowed up again on you."

Regis chuckles, tucking an arm behind him head to prop it up, the movement showing the ease he feels around Mal. The fact that he is naked while Mal is still clothed doesn't bother him.

"Do you wish me to actually answer that, or are you looking to find out for yourself?"

Mal looks up, his eyes full of merriment. "It does not matter either way, I will still turn it to my advantage." By advantage he means no more than enhancing the pleasure for Regis.

He crouches back, ass up a little on show, as he drops lower, pressing kisses and very suggestive licks up Regis' inner thigh.

The words and action both draws a happy little groan from Regis. He parts his legs a bit to give Mal room for whatever he's got it in his mind to do.

He's told Mal more than once, to do only what he wants to do. While Regis will certainly stop him if he senses any tension or distress, he must also trust Mal to discover his own limits.
